Born in the USA and now living and studying in Germany, the winner of this year’s competition is still just 19 years of age. Curtis Phill Hsu returns to Hastings for a special recital in the intimate surroundings of the Kino-Teatr in St Leonard’s. The programme includes two melancholy nocturnes by Chopin (D flat major and C minor), but the main event is without doubt Beethoven’s thrilling, and fiendishly difficult, Sonata No 29 in B flat major, the Hammerklavier.
